It never going to happen. No idea why there's so much talk about it on the tv. FIFA will go for 5 officials and it was already on BBC sport prior to the game. It's being trialled with a view to using it at the 2014 WC.

If you're making a rule in football, then it needs to be applicable across the board, whether it's the WC or the Vauxhall Conference (or whatever it might be called).

Don't want it like Rugby League though, where 20,000 idiots stand looking at a giant screen whilst it beams loads of ads into your mind before releasing the decision Goal or No Goal.

If it is, it needs to be a guy in a room with a link to an earpiece held by the ref.

I think NFL get it right, the manager can challenge the call at the expense of a timeout, or the Main ref can go to the cameras if he decides to. The ref goes to the sidelines, watches it himself through a camera and makes the decision. I don't think a big screen is required like they do in the rugby.

Regarding making it the same across the board, when was the last time you turned up at a sunday league game and saw a referee, two linesman and a fourth official? Never gonna happen. Would you expect hawkeye at your local tennis club? I've never seen a big screen for the rugby outside of the top flight.
