Hi,

I have been having awful trouble trying to get my sitemaps set up but for some reason no matter what I tyr I can’t get them accepted. If anyone here can help or knows where I can go to get some help I’d be incredibly grateful.
I’ve left a message on Googles boards – and I’ve been truing to get a help e-mail to no avail.

Here is a copy of the message I posted which explains the problem in full::

Hi, I have recently signed up with Google and verified 2 sites (I'll list them as this may help with the question.)

http://www.asktravelinsurance.com and
http://www.audiobusinessseminars.com

The thing is i can't add a sitemap for either of them.
For example: In my webmaster tools i click on add sitemap (i've selected: http://www.asktravelinsurance.com)
I then go through to the next screen and choose the type: Add a general web sitemap, and i enter my google sitemap file (provided by hosting company), which is:
http://www.asktravelinsurance.com/google-sitemap.cfm (I got this from my host – Whypark)

So i select: Add Web Sitemap and get the following error message in red::
The Sitemap must be located at http://www.asktravelinsurance.com/. To add a Sitemap at http://www.asktravelinsurance.com/http://www.asktravelinsurance.com/, first add that site to your account and then click the Add a Sitemap link beside it.

The sites are definitely verified as I thought this may have been the problem.
I can get crawl stats, query stats, page analysis - etc...
In the webmaster Dashboard they all have ticks by the side under verified.
everything seems to be okay from my end.
Any ideas???

I have also gone into summary for the site and selected: Preferred domain and set it as www.asktravelinsurance.com – when I did this it said sitemap not allowed.
So I have cleared that preference.
I then deleted them and entered them again and still I’m getting the same problem.

So please can someone try and help me with this, before I give up on computers altogether.

Thanks. James

You just need to type :
Code:
google-sitemap.cfm
in the form field.

The error you're getting is what I get if I type the whole URL into the form field eg.
Code:
http://www.asktravelinsurance.com/google-sitemap.cfm

Google knows your file is going to be at or in a directory of
asktravelinsurance.com so doesn't let you specify or change the domain.

Hopefully that is that simple, and you'll at least get a bit further.

Mishmash - Thankyou - you are a genius -it was so simple and obvious.
If anyone's selling i'm in the market for a new brain.
Thanks
