Many thanks for your thoughts on the best logo. I went with #17. Hopefully it works well and stands the test of time.

I like 3 and 5, I think if 5 had the trail it would win for say up to say 13 yrs old, 1 or 2 if its secondary and college based.

I liked 13 but the |> play button on a clapper kinda doesn't work for print only for video so bit torn.

What age group is the site targeting ?

Hi Skinner,

Thanks for your thoughts. My thoughts are almost exactly the same as yours. (btw the play clapper, is really a manilla folder... playing on the folder/folio aspect).

I like the rockets (for younger) and also 1 and 2 (for higher grades).

Hopefully the site/videos will cover math content at all grades/ages in future. At the moment I teach 12-14 year olds and have content for them, but in future the website will include higher and I'll be teaching older kids (up to 18 ).

It's really hard trying to make a decision... but I'm also writing a math unit/lesson plan book so I want to use the logo on everything and have it stand the test of time (at all ages of student and also be inclusive of parents/teachers).

Based on that I would probably go with #2 or #13, leaning towards 2 but I quite like 13, I think its the play symbol more so than the folder/clapper and the play which is making it look like a clapper board.

Not much help but narrowed it down to two choices hehe. I'd be tempted to modify 13 either fill the triangle in, or put and M on it or something else.

I prefer #2 but this could be best used for something else, not a maths site. I think #11 best represents the brand name.

#13 web 2.0 style - the rest are either dull, busy and distracting.

number 13 for me...

what is the relevance of rockets ?

7 looks good also...would look good on a site

9 i would have chosen if it wasnt that busy...

oh i hate choosing...its like having a doughnut, cream horn and a chocolate cookie offered to me at once

Thanks for the input.

I've been asking my students (13-ish) and they like the colorful ones and maybe leaning towards the rockets and the colorful folder one.

My problem is that I want the logo to be lasting through most ages, but also look professional and sharp to book publishers and possibly advertisers, other teachers and parents...

The rockets I really like but I think that might work it I was building a maths worksheet website...

I'm now leaning towards 1/2 but they seem familiar (good/bad?).
I don't know if #1 is too blocky... the "M" is there, it's triangles and a square, it's a window, I can also make out an open book in the logo...

The other folder ones look lasting too (throughout different grades...).

I have about a day to decide.

how much did it cost to crowd source the logos?

99Designs. Prices from $299 to $799 and beyond.

For me I think an image should be instantly recognisable (to an extent relevant esp if targeted for different languages,) If you take away the words I’d say your advertising a space ship, origami or folders also don’t get the play button?

It's tough when really the site is going to be youtube vids, math worksheets, tutoring services and possibly a published book. How do you get all that into a logo without it being too hectic. I think that's why the best logos are simpler.

I'm not sure where the spaceship came from, I didn't ask for it... but it grew on me for use with the younger kids and worksheets...

The play one, might work as a variation for the youtube vids (but with it filled in as the general logo).

I'm closing in on #1 though. I'm starting to feel like this may suit everything combined the best...

The images all appear embedded for me (not by clicking the link). I used the icon (

Just got sent one more logo below. This one (#17) might have overtaken #1 as my new favourite. I think the caps, sans serif font suggests clean and simple.

Does it look too corporate? Personality/professionalism/education?
Is this too similar to any other logo?

Such a tough decision...

Thanks for your thoughts so far. Together with my students and family I am more confused than ever!

#17

I like #17, its neat, easy to read and has a little style to it.

Maybe its a case of narrowing it down to a smaller shortlist such as 5 and then you can get the opinions of people on a smaller selection, and you could have a poll on here.

That's what I should have done Scott. Due to design overload I ended up choosing a logo (#17). Feel so much better now I ended the contest early and picked a design.
