Here is a quote from the Sedo email I received today

"More than 50% of internet users search by typing a search term or keyword (e.g. "news) along with their trusted extension (.e.g. .uk or .com) directly into their browsers"

Who said parking revenue is going down ?

Discuss

I saw that and was about to post the same, it is embarassing.

Can a mod move this to the sedo forum and let them explain their research, as it does say 'Studies have shown...'

Hopefully thats a proper study, not some toddler using a vtech in the sedo office.

Anyway, over to Sedo for the answer...

Yeah someone in Sedo marketing looking a bit red faced today :p

There is pure type in traffic on some names, but 50% ?! Maybe in crazyville .

Agree. That's got to be wrong – would be nice if they referenced their source.

WOW ...bargain of the year in there.... gnomes.co.uk

most users now type 'keyword' or 'keyword+.co.uk' into the Google search instead of the browser address bar.

Thread Moved... I too would also be interested in some hard core, proven facts?...

Sedo?

Keyword or Brand+Extension e.g. ebay.co.uk

I'd hazard a guess that less than 5% type in keyword/keyword string + extension, unless they know a site exists there.
