My daughter is after an Ipod touch. No idea what she wants it for really... Seem very pricey. Does anyone have one? any thoughts?

Thanks

Bascially it's the same as the iphone but without the ability to make phone calls.

My daughter has one and loves it. She is 13. As long as you have wireless at home you can do everything that you can do with an iphone.

Yes, daughter is 10 and seems all her friends have one. Refurb on Apple store is around £130...

I have an Ipod touch which I haven't used in years.

Its one of the first models, will have to check specs.

Refurbish kits are available on Amazon and Ebay

You can have it for £40

If you want one with a camera you will have to get the more recent model. I have an old one which is great for checking emails and listen to music on the move, Facebook etc.

Be careful how you set your kids up with access to the App Store though as some parents have had nasty surprises when they use their account with a credit card enabled.

The only downside I guess for a younger child is how you monitor what they are accessing on it, at least on a PC you can check more easily or add parental control software.

I would say get one but monitor it.

Don't get one from ebay

Don't buy ones that need slight attention as a simple cracked screen can turn into a bit of a mess.

Great device to get your kids gadget savy, it's also a great entertainment device for on the go. My 4 year old got one for her 4th birthday as she was hogging my ipad ;)

Just back from Sainsburys who had some with free £15 itunes card....

Stephen.

Recommend them for educational games too.. My kids love the ipad.

Well, my daughter has an iPod for 2 years now.

Pros: Don't know, should ask her ;) Uses for mp3, games, Facebook. All teen things, I guess.

Cons: Had to replace the screen once ("oops, I've dropped it"). As it was out of guarantee already, used local shop - 75 quid. Second screen already scratched with small cracks. If using for normal Internet: very bad for kid's eyes, text is tiny.

Verdict: They ALL have it these days (well, probably almost ALL). She will not stop pushing you to get one :D
