Got some bloke who keeps banging on about wanting a domain. The strange thing is he keeps telling me his ISP is going to pay for it? Anyone else had something like this.

Price is over £,£££ and when I said its quite strange that an ISP would buy it for you he said 'they told me it is easier as they will also invoice me for the registrant change and tag change at the same time and I also have time to pay their invoice, which helps my cash flow.'

It's an LLL domain.

My gut feeling is that this person is trying to pretend to be a Joe Bloggs but really its for some bigger purpose.

Was it a recent catch?

If so perhaps the ISP didn't renew it, so are having to fork out to buy it back for their customer. Just a thought as I've seen that happen before :)

Don't try to second guess. Tell the enquirer what your desired price is, plus escrow. If he meets your requirements ask him how he wishes to proceed and go ahead.

Lol that's interesting. Especially if it was previously ntl or cable and wireless. I hear the metropolitan scuffers are looking for a few LLL domains :-)

Yes I have had this with one particular ISP “twinkle twinkle little **** ” I registered names they forgot to register for a large client? AIso one they had let drop.... They were slippery little buggers when they made an appraoch though…

I got this bloke randomly phoning me up now with some convoluted story of what the domains being used for - which is some childrens project and the parents are all chipping in to fund buying the name - lol maybe i'm just a suspicious old git.

Its interesting that a very large company that wanted this domain a while back have south african accents and he just happens to have one also..?

Tell them you're one of those many businesses (like car dealers) who don't discount for charities and non-profits, because the status of the buyer is independent of - and irrelevant to - the value of what you're offering.
