Can someone explain how the top .uk names being caught by “John Sisk” etc

Are ending up on Domain Lore as “caught” ?

Yesterday:

adam.uk John Sisk [Tag = JSISK]
alan.uk John Sisk [Tag = JSISK]

Today:

ew.uk John Sisk [Tag = JSISK]
et.uk John Sisk [Tag = JSISK]
ce.uk John Sisk [Tag = JSISK]
fa.uk John Sisk [Tag = JSISK]

Example pre-bid auction:

Now on the front: www.domainlore.uk

Correct me if I'm wrong but they're a member here: https://www.acorndomains.co.uk/members/js1.11206/ - I'm guessing he's nabbed them and listing them through DL. Unless I'm mis-understanding what you're trying to say.

Adam.uk was pre-ordered at DL for £6

It is now showing as “Caught” at DL and appearing on the ROR auction on the front page.

However it was instead caught by John Sisk on a different tag:

https://www.nominet.uk/whois/?query=Adam.uk#whois-results

The same applies to Alan.uk caught yesterday:

https://www.nominet.uk/whois/?query=alan.uk#whois-results

I guess it could be 1 of two things. Either John Sisk caught it first and listed it via DL or John Sisk is one of the TAGs that DL were using to catch domains.

This is different to normal listings on Domainlore. Pre-orders were placed yes and DL is showing as “caught”.

It seems likely DL is running the drop catching software on the other tag ?

Also I’ve just found another tag being used: CAMBRIDGE

https://www.nominet.uk/whois/?query=Bournemouth.uk#whois-results

https://www.nominet.uk/whois/?query=build.uk#whois-results

So you can expect these on DL soon:

edinburgh.uk
film.uk

They're catching very well, they're putting the domains straight to DL

It doesn't seem out of the realms of possibility they're using Denys system and they've agreed to auction everything they catch and split the profits

Indeed

Both CAMBRIDGE and JSISK use Denys script normally, so it is possible the 'deal' on this release was all domains caught are sent to auction.

Worth noting also that John Sisk has been looking at the thread and decided not to reply so far, so whatever they're doing, it doesn't look like they wish to discuss it directly at present ha!

Funny you recognise that behaviour

I'm not sure how it works but I think people using Denys script have to send caught domains to auction and split the sale 50 / 50 or at least it used to work that way. I'm not sure what happens with non premium stuff i.e if the catchers get to keep those domains without it having to go direct to auction.

I was only monitoring one (c a v) and it said MISSED at DomainLore; it was caught by JSISK so wouldve thought it would show as CAUGHT on the same basis as the opening poster, and be listed as up for auction.

Did it have pre-order bids ?

I remember reading an old thread on here about oyster.co.uk and the workings of their arrangement, at least at the time

I think it was something like, Denys and catcher both agree to a reserve price, then they get a chance to pay 1/2 the money and keep the domain, or they put it to auction

Well whatever happened, one of you has forced him off the forum for good because of nasty, anonymous emails this morning telling him he needs to come on the forum and explain himself. I quote part of his email;

"Domains were just a hobby and I have enjoyed using Acorn but you catch a
few domains at once (the first time in 9 years) and it all turns nasty
on email.

Feel free to explain I left acorn due to emails received manly this
morning, as I have worked with many people over the years on Acorn and
all in a good way."
