Right im looking at these 2 laptops and trying to compare to see what one is the overall winner but im not too sure, can anyone here help me out a bit?

SONY

&

HP

Cheers.

Intel vs AMD, If it were my money I would get the i5 but all depends what you will be doing with it really. Both similar beasts. HP support is better than Sony.

I didn't think HP had the reputation it once did, seem to remember when I was looking for a laptop that HP tend to high spec their machines to compensate for the quality.

I think the key to choosing the right laptop - is just how much travelling-use do you expect to do. If it's constantly on the move - it's a different laptop required to one thats going to sit pretty static on your desk at home.

I'm very happy with my new samsung that i finally chose for myself. But i basically 50/50use it as a destop with peripheral (High spec)l Keyboard, mouse and destop monitor. too bulky and heavy to be constantly on the move

out of the two you've mentioned - I would definately take the Sony as the best all rounder

My additional advice, which I'm sure most do anyway is.

You can't beat spending 4 or 5 hours going around the different stores - Just to get the feel and touch of the laptops - Amazing just how much it changes your perspective. I set off 2 or 3 alarms in the process

I originaly choose the Samsung because it was one of the very few to offer a Mat Screen, and seeeing the amount of home use I make of it that would've been a big bonus. When i got it home they had changed all models to Gloss - Bastards - If I wanted to look at myself, I'd buy a fu****g mirror.

Thanks chaps, I think I am leaning towards the Sony a little, Im not too sure about the graphics though, my samsung s3511 has a Nvidia Gforce Cuda and Im not sure if the Intel HD Graphics 3000 is better/worse ?

Hmm - good point. and the intergrated chip wants 2Gig of your memory. Your like me - you want a £1200 machine for less than £500 ;)

I've had both models in stock and would probably plumb for the Sony, albeit perhaps not a white one. The HPs fan noise can be a bit obtrusive I found.

Better still the Samsung 9 series if you can cope with a 13" screen and no optical drive. As soon as I got one in stock I fell in love with it and had to keep it.

thanks for the info guys, after melting my brain i went for THIS mainly for the build quality, it feels lovely plus will do what I want and more, as long as I can play flight sim x on the tv Im a happy bunny. now to transfer from old to new :(

The model you went for seemed reasonably priced. I recently followed the advice of someone else on here and bought a laptop from Dell Outlet. I'm very impressed with it!

I just read that my new Sony will be used in the new James Bond Film Skyfall that goes to show you how good these sony are!!
