I don't have a problem with them offering to reserve the .UK if you lease the .co.uk, the problem is that some people may be mislead by the .UK offer, and lease a name on the basis that it is already reserved and will be available to use, it definitely needs rewording to state that you'll get use of the .UK only if .UK goes ahead.

Agree with all the comments about it being a bit misleading.

Also, I'd find the prospect of paying for a UK specific service in dollars (Which country?) very off putting.

What you made it sound like is the person leasing your domain will be able to register the .uk for themselves.

So how much extra would someone be willing to pay (whether buying or leasing) for the pair of them?

I'm thinking around 15% more (thats how much I have valued .uk at with a 5 figure deal with another Acorn member recently)

So the leaser has the privilege of having their rate doubled? Or do you mean $100 for the pair (i.e. in total).

I think anyone that thinks that the value of their portfolio of .co.uk domains (assuming they all qualify for .uk) is going to double overnight, is dreaming. And I think the reseller market (whether leasing or buying) is going to agree with me.

Be good to see the clarification from Nokta just so we (and everyone else reading this thread) knows not to bother if they won't agree the lower fee.

I assume the leasee will be given the first refusal at leasing the .uk too i.e. they can pay double their current fee, but lease both versions, or stick to their current fee, but Nokta can then lease the .uk to a different party once the .co.uk leasee has passed on the opportunity. Sounds fair enough - we could argue forever about the relative value of .co.uk vs .uk (which in any case will change over time) but it's undeniable that the .uk of a generic is going to be worth "something" - so why should Nokta's lease customers get that extra value for free?

The process of first offer on it sounds perfectly fair... but I think expecting people to double their payments is extremely optimistic.
