You may have seen the Nominet email today:

Subject: [Nominet, COVID-19 coronavirus update] From: [email protected]

Which gives members a renewal discount in April / May due to COVID-19:

Registrars can apply for a temporary discount on renewal pricing to complement a discount or package they are offering registrants who, due to financial difficulties, might otherwise be unable to renew. The fund will cover the one-year wholesale fees for up to 10% of domains due for renewal over April and May. All registrars can apply, and the 10% cap will apply to each TAG.

On that link it says:

Only renewals that are due to expire between the 1st April and 31st May 2020 are eligible.

Then it says under the FAQ at the bottom:

I have a self-managed tag. What help is available for me?

The NSF is designed to help registrants but we recognise that Self-Managed TAGs may also be going through a difficult time. Please contact us so that we can understand your unique situation, what support you would like from Nominet and we can review.

Effectively if you are a large member group you can get 10% of your renewals free in April / May (per tag or registrar). Some of them have already created hashtags and landing pages:

If you are a self managed tag holder who renews any names in April / May.... You would need to make sure the names actually expire in April/May (most of your portfolio will not).

On top of that....

Up until 31st March 2019 there was a free one-year .uk ROR promotion.

Then there was a final free RoR promotion 3rd - 14th June 2019. 1&1 ionos put through over a million: https://3million.uk/ror-stats/

So in April/May (2020) there are thousands of .uk expiring that need renewing....

However as those names have expiry dates in March & June they are not eligible for the April/May support fund?
