Hi All,
Just in the process of selling my first domain through DL and wondered what the "norm" was regarding the Nominet transfer fee?

Is this for the seller to pay prior to transfer or should the buyer pay?

Thanks for any assistance you can offer,
Steve.

Hi

This is in the rules on DL

"By bidding, you are stating that you are ready and willing to purchase that domain name for your bid amount, plus pay domain ownership transfer charges to Nominet (which is historically being paid by a buyer)"

Typically, the buyer pays the £12 fee when they accept and complete the transfer, but in some instances, the buyer may offer to pay. Really comes down to what is agreed; with DL, the terms are that the buyer is responsible.

Never knew DL had those terms, interesting as ive always considered it a sellers responsibility unless first agreed. Good to know the "norm" is for the buyer to pay :D

IMHO it's about time Nominet scrapped the transfer fee of £12!

I could understand them charging it to cover costs back when it was done via the post, but not today with it being online!
