Toying with getting one of these just for a gadget

Anyone got one ? good / bad ?

Looking forward to peoples views

I have been looking at these as I need a mobile way of buying domains, as thus far none of my registrars have a wap/mobile way of buying domains.

I had a look at one in maplin but they seem ok, but i hear the iphone's internet is way better.

I would have thought perhaps a PDA Phone with WiFi is a better option... Then you can just go to a hotspot...
Or use the 3G/HDSPA option when out and about....

It appears you can only 'browse' for 20 hours per month on this Pocket Surfer without charge.

I heard they were fast to load / run a brwoser with full QWERTY keyboard, but limited in what lese you can do with it.

Aren't there monthly contract charges too?

I fancy one myself so if anyone has any direct experience?

Hi

Nope - no monthly charges if you stay within the 20 hours "browsing" limit per month. If you do go over the 20 hours, you can purchase unlimited usage for a full year for £40 - same as the renewal price for year 2.

I am not after anything serious, just something I can read acorn and other sites, sedo and check emails. I don't want the hassle of wifi spots and slow page loadng speeds.

For £145 delivered, this seems a bargain to me !

I have a compaq pda and a Sony Ericsson p990i PDA phone and both have wifi and sim card driven net access, both have a limit on how big a page can be, I think the p990 is about 200kb and the pda is about 300kb, and neither is capable of CSS layers or layouts or accurately rendering embedded tables very well.

If your looking at a PDA make sure it can deal with pages you want else you may find it doing the same as mine, which is a glorified memory stick.
