Just killing a little time before I hit the sack. I bought a couple of domain portfolios on here over the years, 2 or 3. One, in particular, has shone, I didn't know at the time, it's just trying your luck and seeing if things work. I bought a portfolio of domains from a well-known member here, over 1000 domains. I've been selling them slowly but steadily ever since, including today. He clearly had skill and picked well. It's also clear you can sit on on some domains for 4 or 5 years before they get a bite, but they still do. I've sold 15 domains reactively so far in 2019, not a lot, but a nice sideline and certainly profitable. With this particular portfolio, I made my initial investment back luckily with one good sale very early on but still sell 3 and 4 figure domains from that portfolio, where the per-unit price was 1 figure. Don't overlook portfolios is what I'm saying...even though we pay Nominet twice what we used to to keep them, cheers Nominet.

I love buying these bulk sales. I remember a batch of 100 dot coms I bought with at least 8 months reg on for less than $1 each a couple of years ago. I sold one a couple of months later for $1000 :) The rest were due to drop and I sold another one for another $1000. I let the rest drop. That's why I'm a sucker for bulk sales - it's like gold mining :) If nothing else now I can increase the reach of 123parked. Portfolios are generally money - even bad ones. As long as there's at least half the reg time on them and they're less than half reg fee overall I'll generally snap them up. Occasionally there's little nuggets in there which are generally worth the cost of the entire set just for one domain. Of course this might explain why I've now got over 3000 domains again when I decided I'd cut back to less than 100 :p

Can't remember offhand - they were pretty bad. One was a taxi domain and the other was an awful old link pop domain.
*edit actually now I come to think of it I think one was a .info! I'll look through my old emails.

I will admit I'm well out of the loop with any other extensions than .uk, I didn't know .infos still sold, very nice

They don't normally - I had lots in the old days. Couldn't sell them. This was a freak but had a lot of backlinks.

Ha! I remember getting enthusiastic about .info back in about 2002. I think I had about 15 of them, but these days I have zero. I really dislike Afilias, and I regard .info's as a bit like German banknotes in the 1930s. I remember I did sell poetry.info but that was only coupled up with biblestudy.co.uk - got a thousand for the pair of them.

.info seemed like the new best thing when it first came out. I was very drawn in. Now you can get any of hundreds of new endings. Most of them it's the same. Zimbabwean bank notes value.

I'll never respect Afilias after their own directors committed fraud in their own .info release using fake trademarks. Disgusting.
