Hi Guys,
I am standing for the position of non executive board director of nominet.
As i understand it there are two positions empty and 3 people standing. aside from myself the other two are incumbents. Voting forms get sent out with election statements on 16 april pls actually fill these out and lend your support in thread. With the proposed changes it is important that we have a voice on the board. Pls feel free to contact me through acorn (alias poetry).

What are you views please on;

Domain speculation/investment and the folk that do this exclusively.

Domain parking with sponsored listings (PPC ads).

Drop catching and its current form. Would you favour official .uk registry drop lists being published?

hi Foz,
in detail i'm pro all three and in general i think anyone currently making a living out of the domain industry or has built a business model should not be punished as long as they are not breaking any govt laws(!) rgds reza
on the very specifics of nom publishing a droplist perhaps there should be
more feedback from the forum as there are those currently earning income by selling these on.

Did you contact and speak to the baroness prior to declaring yourself for nomination, as she had asked people to do?

Which IMO was a total liberty on her behalf.

Representing the members interests and carrying out your fiduciary duties is a difficult balance to strike, and good intentions for one part of a business can be used against you if it doesn't fit with the other.

Every year Nominet members have the opportunity to nominate and vote for two elected non-executive director positions.
This year we received three nominations, from Sebastien Lahtinen, Reza Sobati and Thomas Vollrath.
You should get a email from popularis giving you username and pswd to vote online. to read up on the 3 candidates visit link below

Fundamentally the bulk of the votes go the registrars. Though they are capped at 3% you have the bizarre situation where it may actually count against you if more ' low vote' (lessthan 3000) stakeholders vote for you as the the number of votes the registrar cap incorporates increases. Coupled with the fact that Nominet throws a party for the top 30 registrars on the day the ballot is received it makes it very difficult for any non preferred candidate to be elected. Voting still continues until the 16th when the AGM
is held this year at Oxford.
