Seems harsh...

agreed
i though that
seems very harsh.

the twat that dropped a fire extinguisher off the roof needed to go down as extremely dangerous what he did and very lucky he didn't kill someone
tbh a large fine and community service best for gilmour imho

i agree with the right to protests and most of the demonstrators of students and teachers were peaceful
the ones out to cause trouble would have been better being made into a chain gang through the courts, and go out to do community service and repair and clean up all the crap they caused
wearing tshirts saying ' i am a twat'
and the police that behaved illegally on the day too beating the crap of innocent people and kettling people should be sent down or do community service

Poor Charlie, they have used him as an example. Really not fair at all, I'm pretty staggered at the length of sentence.

There is no point trying to argue something like this really, but Gilmour has had a privileged upbringing, the best education money can buy, is well travelled and highly intelligent. He chose to stay awake for 48 hours, get out of his skull on booze, acid and valium then assumed that the "protest" would simply hide his idea of fun - nothing to do with the protest - but just assuming the law didn't apply to him and going on the rampage. Should we really believe that a second year history student at Cambridge University (note the sentencing was delayed to allow him to sit his university exams!) does not know what the Cenotaph is? A custodial sentence seems fair to me, though not really sure on the length of sentence.

The spoilt little brat deserves everything he gets. The Cenotaph of all things, the mind boggles that an arrogant little prick like this thinks he can mock the national symbol marking the ultimate sacrifice made by so many (usually) young men and women, some of them of his own generation who, having no other real options in life, joined up and have died in recent years.

I hope he gets shacked up with an 18 stone queen, that'll teach him how to defend himself, and maybe realise that being adopted with a silver spoon in your mouth won't protect you from a well deserved reaming!

LOL! :D
you make some fair points tbh lol
but sentence too long

i think he will get jist though when they issuse his prison regulation pillow and point out it's not for laying his weary head on
it's for biting down on :smile:

16 months for what he did, compared to 4 years for what that sicko did in Pred's post #3 - doesn't add up.

Lets be right here, most of us have done worse than Gilmour and got away with it - I hope no-one here has ever done anything similar to that other twat though.

I'm not a fan of the royal family but they are royals so jumping on the bonnet of the royal escort is a NO NO !

What's annoying is when you see child abusers only getting community service

I am happy tough because no doubt David Gilmour will write a song about it or possibly an album and maybe need to re-unite Pink Floyd for a final tour to take his mind off things

Another reason to leave the country; and that list grows longer all the time.

I agree many offenders do deserve to have a stronger punishment, but there is no use in comparing two different cases and saying because this one is 'not as bad' it deserves less time. He deserves to pay the price for what he's done. Gives civilised students and protestors alike a bad name.

Besides, if he's good he won't serve anywhere near the full 16 months.
