If you've ever wondered how much more traffic you would get by moving up a place or two in the search results this may be of interest.

I agree with that findings. That's the reason why sites compete for a higher ranking or position in search results. It's because it will help them increase their chances to be more visible and accessible to visitors.
 
However that data being useful would depend on

a) the market sector / type of site (e.g., info, ecommerce, lead generation etc)
b) the conversion rate (be it filling in a form, clicking an ad, purchase etc)
c) the search phrases being used

I would rather have 4000 people that make me money on my site, than 4000 that make me money plus a further 3,000,000 that take my bandwidth and scew my stats ;)

Everything in the right place, and this is interesting data, but it is not really the kind of data that can be applied elsewhere, it has unique circumstances etc that come into play. Plus it's AOL ;) Totally different kind of surfer ;)
