Can anyone tell me why some domains go suspended after their renewal date and other don't and just say renewal required?

There is a domain which was due for renewal 2 days ago but says renwal required. When would you expect this to go suspended?

Even if a domain becomes suspended, it could still be renewed by the current registrant any time until it drops, usually 92 or 99 days after the expiry date.

depends on the registrar of the domain. Some registrar suspend expired domain immediately but some other registrar suspend it 30 days after it expired. In this case you can renew it before your registrar suspend it.

Why are the Suspended domain names of multiple registrants Chris Ward & Modern Times UK Ltd not being allowes to drop?

it must be something to do with all the names on that tag (its my tag btw)

i cant provide you with an answer as i have no idea why the names arnt dropping.

(i better go and quickly check there is nothing SUSP that i want to keep)

sorry i cant be of any more help, if anyone does work out why please feel free to let me know ;)

If the names have sailed past the drop date it's probably because there is a do not cancel on them. Often this is a result of being near to expiry prior to a previous transfer and Nom give the new registrant a longer time to renew and then forget all about it.

When this happended to me I sent Nom a list and told them that I no longer wanted the names and that they should have been cancelled months ago, they gave the above reason and then cancelled them within a few days. My guess is that if you dont inform them the names will just remain suspended indefinately or until they do some housekeeping.

i was thinking the same thing.

i am making a list of all susp names on my tag and will issue a delete command at some point later next week.
