I notice a lot of TagNames are suspended and from today should drop.

What are the odds that they will. From past experiences I'm not holding my breath.

Why is Nominet so lenient?

When you're a top 30 registrar with over 21,000 names in your account, why shouldn't you be entitled to a bit of special treatment?

I'd be expecting at least a Turkey every Christmas, and maybe even a Nominet Easter egg.

Maybe because part of Nominet's mission statement is:

Ensuring consistency and fairness in the registration and transfer of domain names

:)

Has anyone raised this issue with Nom?

Tagnames isn't a special case. As I recall this is a Nominet nicety that's pretty simple to take advantage of, although I don't remember how off-hand (and wouldn't write up here anyway).

It seems as though Tagnames just doesn't like to pay their bills, bless 'em
