Been a lot of debate here recently about the benefits of emd vs brandables

I guess this falls into the brandable emd category but its still interesting to hear how this emd is helped a real business move to the next level.

I agree with Gimpy on this, its their brand and would have worked with any other brand name they thought of. The fact it has an exact match of two words is nor here nor there in my opinion.

Even typing Team work into google they are no where to be seen other than PPC so , they've invested alot into a domain, alot in to advertising and PPC and got results. Nothing someone couldnt do with a shed load of cash and saved them selves $700k on a mediocre brandname.

Lets look at this a different way, as UK domainers how many of you would have the scruples to put a $20million price tag on that domain if you owned it ? And stuck to your guns years down the line to rake in $700k ?

Id put money down that most here would think it was a good sale at 5, 10, 15k ? Got to hand it to the seller for knowing how to play it

Teamwork is a generic term, you couldn't trademark "Teamwork", although you might be able to trademark "Teamwork.com".

Totally agree thats how i searched for it too and they are no where to be seen for "teamwork" but they are for "team work".

If this is an EMD then effectively ANY domain is an EMD. AcornDomains.co.uk is an EMD for the search phrase "Acorn Domains" and so on.

To me an EMD is a domain name that exactly matched the search term you wanted to rank for or the exact product or service you offered. They don't offer team work, they offer a way to facilitate team work in a roundabout way.

This is not an EMD. It's a generic word(s).

Yes, it's a dictionary word, but I wouldn't consider it to be generic.

What is it an exact match for? Their brand! Who the hell buys or sells "teamwork" or searches for "teamwork" as a product or genre??

Why do domainers call every dictionary word "generic" & always use bullshit phrases, such as "super-premium" "very unique" & "ultra brandable"? It just makes us all look moronic.

Although Longtail Eddie quotes Wish.co.uk as an EMD in his propaganda post so perhaps I'm just out of touch as to what an EMD domain is

Exactly, given the options on the EMD front you can clearly see why they opted for a brand

It's a generic term, i.e. they did not invent the term, so they can't really claim full rights to the term "teamwork".
