Time for change!

Just like lots of people on this forum, I'm sick of worrying about the next Google update (yes, I know that there's a good chance of an update in the very, very near future by the way!).

So, I'm thinking about making a new site in 2-3 months that won't depend on search engines for traffic.

Imagine having a site that doesn't depend on search engines

I've just made a survey that's related to this (to see if it's worth going ahead with it, although I've only asked a few simple questions to make it easy to do). If you could fill it in it'll help me decide whether to go ahead with it or not

I think I know where your going with this .. but in my experience - people shopping online want the product 'yesterday'.

But I guess it really all comes down to what your offering and how long the wait...

Have recently discovered that there are a good few sites doing what I want this site to do. However, most are horrible looking sites or overly complicated.

Is it a site where you wholesale order, 100 people or so have to want it, then they all get it cheap?.

Yeah it really is the way to go nowadays.

Not going to lie, you're pretty much spot on. What do people think? Good/bad idea?

I think it could work well with the following:

- Amazon products where prices go up and down like a yo-yo (http://uk.camelcamelcamel.com/). However, do enough people actually know about Amazon's fluctuating prices?

- Products that are purchased regularly such as dog food. This costs me £70 every other month so it would be great to get alerts for when it is on offer.

- new products such as games releases and technology launches (eg next iPad).

Would probably take a lot of effort and money to get the word out about the service.

I agree that it would be useful for stuff you buy regularly. It's pretty much a given that tech/electronic goods drop in price over time, and plenty of sites cover that, but being able to track the price of everyday essentials could be handy.

Agree that it could cost a good bit to get the word out about it, but I've an idea that should help with that.

I just need to get the money together and stuff for this, because it's not going to be cheap.
