Twitter account

Its easy to claim a twitter account just use some common sense and read the rules. Have applied for ten accounts and got nine of them

Please enlighten us, I'm interested in a handle that hasn't been used since 2009.

having been trying this myself for a while now. an account was regged using the .com version of the name I own, it expired two years ago and is now with a big US name broker. Twitter handle is just the keywords, no .com anywhere. i've asked twitter so many times about it, told them it's not being used and they just completely ignore every request.

@domainscot - I to would like to know this is done, thanks

As well as messaging/tweeting account you can also do forgot password, for two reasons:

1 - The person should get an email which may tempt them to log in and see your messages.
2 - It shows you part of the email address the account is registered to - it's possible this is a dropped domain that you can reg and get the account that way.

I never knew this. Thanks to this advice (the second point) I've managed to take control of two twitter accounts, one for myself and one for a client. In both cases the accounts hadn't been used in 4+ years and I'd previously tried to contact the account holders without any joy. As soon as I went to the forgot password screen and saw the partial address I could do some further sleuthing to find names and email addresses elsewhere on t'internet and then boom contact was made.

EDIT: to clarify, no dropped domains / hacking twitter accounts - it was good old fashioned make contact and beg
