UK Bank Account.

I'm looking for options as a non-uk Resident.

The best I've come up with thus far is:

It has CHAPS, which I understand clears the same day within British Isles (£1,000 minimum)

Any suggestions or advice would be appreciated.

Citibank might be worth a look as they are such an international bank.

I need a few accounts in other countries too, and for the majority I use Barclays Wealth - great service and definitely recommended.

Lloyds are pretty much shite at everything, been with them for 15 years, so too much aggro to move. They are officially the most unpopular bank in Britain.

Re: Citibank, wouldn't suprise me if they hike up their charges soon as the US gov wants it's money back.

IMO you'd be better off with HSBC for international banking.

The devils in the detail, the offerings and charges from these banks seem to differ a lot.

Barclays Wealth looks the most promising so far with free BASC under £10K.

To be honest foz, if you take the time to build up a good enough relationship with your Barclays Wealth manager, they will probably raise the limit should you need to and not add any charges. Like I said, I couldn't recommend BW strongly enough
