I have had a batch of posters and flyers printed off for a client promoting a .uk address and email. I figured with 2 weeks to go little point in re produicing the .co.uk though did have some consideration. Obvisouly I will not be posting them through peoples doors just yet. I may do similar for other projects but guess time will tell.

Bold move! I like it.

So is your plan to redirect the .co.uk to the .uk from day one?

And in the leaflet did you prefix the web address with www. - I think that will be needed at least initially so that people know it is a web address.

Yes I will move the site over to .uk and redirect all other extensions.
I did put www dot ..

Original intention was to use a dot com but client would rather use uk guess it makes sense.

I've been using the .uk since January while marketing domains and the more I see it the more I really like it. Once established in the public's mind, I've no doubt it will replace .co.uk.

When do your leaflets go out? Be interesting to hear the response.

I'm going to try a new brand on .uk, with the .co.uk redirected to it.

I think for a while it will stand out and thus might be a bit more memorable.

If anyone is launching a new domain on a .uk and solely advertised on printed media i.e. both .co.uk and .uk versions not in search engines yet, it would be an interesting experiment to log how many visits came from the .co.uk and were redirected to the .uk, to see what percentage of visitors confuse .co.uk for .uk
