One of my sites is doing quite well in the .com version of Google but in google.co.uk it's doing much less well.

The site is a .com but it's hosted in the UK

Any ideas what I could do to reinforce the sites Britishness to the .co.uk version of Google???

Cheers

Paul

Few things spring to mind, add in the word UK in the title, if possible add a UK address on the site and try and get some backlinks from relative UK based sites if possible which should re-affirm your britishness.

PM both sites and I will have a look at them.. Its sounds to me there might be some DUPE content issues going on. Without looking at it I can't tell.

I have heared people talking about this issue with some other domains and that was the problem..

If it is the case quite simply add more unique content to the.co.uk one and maybe create a couple more backlinks. I am the man for backlinks..

you have the same site on 2 domains? duplicate content is your problem.

301 redirect the .com to your .co.uk and the issue should fix itself in a week or two :)

There's only one site and it's a .com so it's not a dupe content issue.

It's just it's in the top 50 in Google.com and about 300th in Google.co.uk It would make sense if it was the other way round so i'm guessing it's not british enough :)

It's a new site and not finished yet so I'm not overly concerned, I'll try a few things sji2671 suggested and see what happens, I just need to tip the balance towards the UK a little I think.

Just an update.

The site has now moved up to 11 in Google.com & 35 in Google.co.uk so there can't be much wrong with the site. Still needs to be the other way round tho

Something else that's just changed is it's gone to #5 in the Irish Google, Google.ie so now I'm totally confused! (something that's happening more and more as I get older :) )
