Does anyone have any recommendations for voip phones?

We're moving away from using a Skype number, and have chosen a service provider. They can supply us with phones, but as with anything like this, they charge £££ just for a handset. So I'm looking for recommendations.

Main features requirements needed:

Simple and easy to setup and use
Replaceable
Expandable (if we need more lines etc)
Able to operate without a PC being turned on, unlike Skype :(

Thanks

Voipfone.co.uk are well known for their quality and response for services etc, if you've chosen them as a provider i doubt you'll go far wrong.

But on the note of hardware, id check out the hardware they sell on the website, then shop around for the same stuff cheaper elsewhere. From what i understand the quality of everything is super important when Voip is concerned.

Considering setting myself up with a VOIP connection in the new year so let me know how you get on.

+1 for Voip guys, been with them for a number only service for years, tbh never had an issue with the quality of sound even with archaic voip handset

You need to check out compatibility with your provider first. Certain features won't work unless the handsets have been compatibility tested and I know for one the Panasonic IP handsets don't work on our hosted platform, things like busy lamp fields.

Your chosen provider should be able to give you a list of handsets that are compatible and if not, look elsewhere.

Polycom are very popular currently, the VVX range. There are rumours Cisco might stop making handsets so we don't recommend them.

We've had so many people recommend voipfone, that it was a no brainer to go with them.

Just need to sort the hardware now :)

I've got a voipfone line that I access rings through to an app on my mobile, means I know 100% of the time I'll get the calls when I'm out and about.

We use Cisco 303s and a hosted PBX with Orbtalk. Nice guys that I know personally from several years back too.

Thanks for all the feedback.

I ended up going with a Snom170. Got it dirt cheap, brand new, in eBay auction. Voipfones setup was quick and painless, just enter ip address, and their site did the rest :)
