I am looking for reviews on the first page only of http://www.warwick.ac.uk. I am trying to gauge what non-students think about the page in terms of the design and ease of use for people visiting for the first time. Many thanks.

It seems very basic, with emphasis on graphics rather than content. The positioning and size of the graphics make it seem unbalanced, the writing on the graphic make it child like in appearance. I do like your use of colour..

One last thing, look at the demographics of students especially on the international image.. It might be worth changing that one

It doesn't say to me 'leading UK university'

It says 'mediocre polytechnic'

The image has really bad artifacts (blurring), it's pixelated.

The menu isn't my cup of tea to be honest.

That being said, I like the quicklinks option, and when you drill further, the top left widget is quite handy.

Thanks for you comments. I should say this page is designed for prospective students and non students. The students' homepage is different. Any more thoughts?
