Hi, really new to this domain business, I've tried searching for what OVT is and I'm just none the wiser....is it simply the amount of hits your website gets?

Theres an Overture page for each country ie

UK

http://inventory.uk.overture.com/d/searchinventory/suggestion/

USA

http://inventory.overture.com/d/searchinventory/suggestion/

DE

http://inventory.de.overture.com/d/searchinventory/suggestion/

If you goto the UK one and type mickeymouse.co.uk and mickeymouse.com you get 23 and 54.

That roughly means 23 ppl type in mickeymouse.co.uk and 54 ppl type in mickeymouse.com per day in the UK searches of Overture and their partner sites ie Yahoo etc.

If you try the same search in other overture countries you will get different results... but always search with the EXT ie xxxx.co.uk xxxx.com.

Not actually. I have been in the domain business since 2001 and overture results JUST mean if a domain has a positive overture than it has some traffic and nobody in the hell can make a corelation between the real traffic and the ovt value. However, bigger the number bigger the chance that the traffic is good. Just use ovt value as a bencmark, nothing more.

Is that right? I thought it was a monthly figure.

Im not too sure if its day, month or something else. Just giving a basic example of how OV score works.

Still if it was per month anything less then 200 would be worthless, just based on domains I own I would guess its more likely a daily figure.

Heres a domain I picked up two weeks ago.

Has a OV with /ext score of 20

Apr 1 - Vistits = 8
Apr 2 - Vistits = 5
Apr 3 - Vistits = 12
Apr 4 - Vistits = 17
Apr 5 - Vistits = 8
Apr 6 - Vistits = 10
Apr 7 - Vistits = 7
Apr 8 - Vistits = 13
Apr 9 - Vistits = 11
Apr 10 - Vistits = 17
Apr 11 - Vistits = 23
Apr 12 - Vistits = 17
Apr 13 - Vistits = 11
Apr 14 - Vistits = 6
Apr 15 - Vistits = 8

Average 11 visits per day.

Seeing as the OV score was for last month then I think it looks more likely a daily score. Maybe down a little with the Easter holidays :(

I think the OV score is for the month, not everyone visits ov powered search engines but everyone has an address bar in their browser - hence the higher than ovt number of visitors.

I times it by about 20 to get the monthly visitor figure. But it ain't always right.

Why does not OVT show any result for some names ? like hack or etc i tried several words some 3 letters but no ovt for them.Any particular reason ?

It means that noone has typed the domain + Ext. into an ovt related search engine, which indicates that it will have little or no type in traffic.

Hi Guys,
I've read all the above ones and the term OVT is still not quite clear for me. Does it stand for overture? Is it just # of clicks made on the site? Also what is ppl?
