Think somebody posted about this before, but I couldn't find it.

Does anyone know where the old way of transfering a name is on the new website?

Go into Domain List and the option is at the bottom when you select the domain.

Assuming you mean the £12 method.

Found it under Domain Manager (not Web Domain Manager) at foot of Dashboard page.

Click on the checkbox to select the domain you want to transfer. Select the 'TRANSFER DOMAIN(S)' option at the bottom of the page.

You will need to know the email address of the person you're transferring the domain name to.

There's a fee of £10 plus VAT to transfer a domain name. Either you or the person you're transferring the domain name to can pay this.

I'm posting this as much for myself for the next time I forget.

Seems you cant use unallocated funds to pay for a transfer?

That's a pain if Nominet decline your credit card for any reason (sometimes glitches happen). I've used unallocated funds a couple of times in the past, but not in the last year or so. I guess this is an "improvement" of their new system.

Its turning into a big joke Edwin. I can use my "own" money to pay for a transfer :)

I have an email from Nominet support stating that you can't use your unallocated funds any more (you could until the recent update).

As Edwin says, this is a pain. Virtually any time I pay Nominet, my credit card company freezes my credit card, because this is a foreign transaction (I don't live in the UK), and I need to spend 10 minutes on the phone straightening this out.

In the past, I could just add a few hundred quid to my account, go through the payment hassle once, and make many many payments for transfers.

I'm not sure I see how this is an improvement, although I'm sure invincible will state that it is.

Noms reply.

Thank you for contacting us. When we made the recent changes to registrant online services, unfortunately one unintended side-effect was that the ability for registrars to pay for registrant transfers using unallocated funds stopped working. Whilst few registrars used this functionality, it was not something we wanted to discontinue. This has been logged with the developers to reintroduce, however I can't give you any definite timescales, as they need to ensure that setting the facility back up again doesn't cause any other outages or errors. I apologise for any inconvenience.
