White text on homepage

Looks nice, shouldn't be a problem as your background is a different colour.

Text colour really is irrelevant as long as there is sufficient contract between its background and foreground.

So white text on light grey background bad, white text on dark grey ok.

You shouldnt have any problems with the site :)

the drop down menu for blog, forum etc dont work properly in firefox.. they get hidden behind the image.

The only time it's a problem is if Google decides you're trying black-hat seo - eg using white text on a white background to stuff your page with lots of keywords for the bots yet showing something different to humans.

Exactly, if you use white text on any other background color save white, you will not have to think at all about it.

Agree with this. Text color doesn't really matter as long as there's a contrast to its color background...

As long as the text is not the same color as the background it should be fine. If you have white text on a white background you will run into some trouble as this is seen as black mat methods

The white text on the page isn't the problem here. This text is the problem:

Seasonaires | Ski Resort Reviews | Cheap Ski Gear |Ski Webcams |Ski Forum

Its the same colour as your background. Looks like hidden text. I would either move the text to a different background colour part of your site, or make that text white too.
