Wordpress Question

Hi,

Let's say I've a site called A.com and it's a wordpress blog. Now all of the links will obviously be A.com/name-of-post etc.

However, what happens if you want to move it on to another domain ( B.com ) ? What's the best way of doing this? Is it as simple as just moving it over via FTP and then it's done? Or is there a few other things that you need to do?

I've never really had any experience moving wordpress sites to different domains, so sorry if it's a really silly question!

I've moved a few Joomla websites before, and I think similar concepts apply...

The links won't be "a.com/post", they'll be something like "[site]/post", so it doesn't really matter what a.com is if you transfer it over correctly.

Use FTP, but make sure you copy over the database too, and link it up in the config file if the name of the database changes.

It'll take care of updating all of the links (including media) sitewide

Few more details about what I'm trying to do:

I own a site A.com with a basic site on it.

I also own B.com but with a new site that I've developed which I intend on using for A.com instead.

Both sites are hosted on the same server, which might make things a bit simpler will it?

I've never been good when it comes to databases and stuff

Yeah maybe it's just me but I just start to get confused when there are a good few variables to consider before doing this.

Going to try this tomorrow morning, how does this sound to people?

Site A = original HTML site
Site B = new Wordpress site

I want the new wordpress site on site A.

Edit the database to change siteB.com to siteA.com (think there's scripts to do this for you)

Copy over the Wordpress files to site A

Delete current pages on site A (or maybe do this first?)

Upload the new database file to site A

Done???


Is it that easy or is there something that I'm missing?
