Good Afternoon

I'm looking to catch one domain name that is being dropped as part of the 'pre nominet domain name project'.

I've done as much research as I can but really I just need someone to do the job for me. Who of you out there can I engage to try to do that for me?

don't expect anyone to do it cheap.

i'm sure people would rather catch some top names for themselves than catch namesfor other people for peanuts.

maybe a price range would help tempt some catchers to help you out?

agreed

If the name is worth anything then there is no doubt that a number of the pro catchers you talk about already have it on their lists. If they catch it themselves they hold the cards and so you'll have to pay the price they want.

The problem is... if this a good name then a number of catchers may be looking at it and therefore you cant guarantee one catcher will get it. Certain catchers may get the name and you'll never see it again.

The fairest public service is dropcatcher but they like everyone they face stiff competition.

Not everyones going to jump to help as you can see the issues

I expect to pay for it. How do I contact the drop catchers? How is the price set? If it were to come up for auction where do I need to be registered to have the best chance of being notified....or is there someone who would do all this for me?

The name is booked on dropcatcher, is it possible to offer for that slot?

I realise this is dog eat dog , I just want to know I've given it the best shot

Have a look at http://www.deleting.co.uk/caught/

If the name is any good then it will be caught by one of the catchers listed there under TAG.

Try contacting each of those TAGs to see if they will catch the name for you. ie by doing a whois on them or visiting their sites for contact details.

How is the price set? No one is going to sell for less then its worth. Have a look at http://www.domainprices.co.uk for an idea of value.

Most of the dropcatchers visit this forum and will see the thread. If the domain is a good one word generic then you have to bear in mind that it is potentially worth £x,xxx or maybe £xx,xxx to the person that catches it so I doubt anyone would be willing to catch it for you for a lower amount.

Eternal questions.

Is it just me but looking at these recently caught lists I can't help thinking there are some useless names being caught. I won't mention any here but some don't look to be worth the reg fee! Obviously there are some good names in there but a lot of tat. IMHO

yes.. a few catchers catch them to monitor the traffic, if they are tat they delete them :)

what is tat traffic from a catchers viewpoint?

50 views per month?

This is not really in line with Nominet's T&Cs - but of course it does happen.

depends on the subject.

e.g a loans domain getting one click a month would do better PPC wise than a domain about bananas getting 100.

Price of bananas tripled in australia due to recent cyclone... could be something to watch all you with strong banana related .com.au's in their portfolio ;)

I wouldn't be too sure - I've got loans / banking domains optimised with £30 keywords and still over 70% of clicks are worth less than 5p - it's very rare to get a click on the top payers.

And something we really jump on if we think people are doing it for this reason.
