Surnames/first names
I believe that, long term, there will be more value in first names than surnames; they are more marketable. Better if you can get one that doubles as a first and second name - e.g. Ewarts.
I have most of our family's names in the dot co dot uk format. When I registered them the only available versions were (a) the possessive - eg. Bridgets or (b) with the suffix "place" e.g Bridgetsplace.
That makes the email address attractive - Bridget(at)Bridgetsplace.co.uk. Lots of interest in personal names but not many sales - story of my life.
