[iamrofe]

Just set up my first e-commerce site.

Would be interested to know what you guys think.

The site is WankSock.com

It's the kind of thing that just might go viral... I'd love an update after the holiday season to learn how it went. Good luck!

[mojoco]

I'd say it will go viral. I can think many people who will buy this as stocking fillers for friends workmates teammates etc. I'll be ordering a couple.

Send some in to lads mags, you are sure to get mentioned in at least one !

Sort of thing I could imagine Jonathan Woss or Graham Norton showing on TV

Your mum will be so proud lol

Keep us posted, Good luck !

ostentatious but brilliant.

Agree with the above suggestion - fire off samples left, right and centre. And perhaps see if you can pick up some cheap ad space on funny sites or forums. It's almost certainly going to be a one hit wonder given the nature of the product, so you want to make all your cash in the next 5 weeks.

For reference - and I know it's a very different product, but it was also a stocking filler with very limited shelf life - I believe the guys selling replicas of the Iraq "Most Wanted" playing cards made about $4,000,000 in a few weeks - then the demand fell to zero. There's a bit more info here http://www.forbes.com/2003/04/25/cx_ah_0425cards.html

"almost certainly going to be a one hit wonder given the nature of the product"

I completely agree Edwin, and am trying to get out on social media as much as possible at the moment

It's been fun to create, now I hope it makes some money haha.

Did you do the product research personally ?

@iamrofe

Inside the wanker will also find an information leaflet, congratulating him on his gift, and comical, yet vital frequently asked questions. Make sure the wanker reads it, if he can’t read then please kindly read it out to him.

'Inside the wanker ....' or 'inside, the wanker will also find .....'? I think you missed a comma.

You could be a wankerlonnaire by xmas, if this goes viral!

I've sent this out to a load of people I think it's a great idea. I know of one lady who has just purchased one! Good luck with it! Anyway I can buy shares or even get 10% ownership I can do free programming?

Edit: Gone down a treat with the people I sent to. I think you're going to do very well with this!

[donton]

Nice idea.

A good tool to use would be Cision for some quick PR results. Not sure how long they take to setup new accounts, but it might be worth looking into!

[addz123]

It's a good idea, although I wonder if PR might be a bit limited due to the crudeness and adult nature of the brand name. For example, The Gentleman's Sock might've been easier pitch. Then again maybe the name gives it a more viral appeal.

Lol'd and shared

I hope you have thought about how to deal with returns. I imagine you will get some interesting ones!

Good idea though. The simple ones are always the best

[mojoco]

I'd think twice about having what looks like a personal address for returns, maybe consider a PO Box.
