i'm stating facts - i'm up noones arse.

the fact is the only evidence people have here is that the addresses of 2 nominet members are closely located. i'm fed up with people on here pointing fingers and presenting crap evidence.

Yes we all know what goes on - we all know that some people have multiple memberships. We all see those 20 'prenom' tags come out on prenom day - [usually in the essex, milton keynes and swansea areas]. However simply showing postcodes is not evidence of anti-avoidance breach.

We don't have access to any logs, however nominet do - so maybe it's worth emailing them about your concerns instead of pointing fingers on here?

Nominet already know about Whois-Search's and other concerns and keep a watchful eye on the DAC, PRSS and its other systems to identify 'abusers' of said systems. However, from a security standpoint it is unlikely Nominet would openly discuss what they do or do not do to protect the integrity of their systems. That could be akin to giving the burglar a key to your house and the combination to your safe.

It seems some people prefer to believe they don't, but just thinking that Nominet doesn't, doesn't change the fact that Nominet does.

How about if I went next door (both sides) and paid for my neighbours to become Nominet members with a DAC........ then took them round a Linux Box each and plugged it into their net connection.......I could even pickup their routers up on wireless connection to access the Linux boxes.........then everyday I could share the query lists etc

I would then have 3 times the DAC quota to hammer Nominet with to make lists for deleting.co.uk

Nominet won't do anything because we are "individual Nominet members" with different ip addresses. All you guys could prove is that we have the same Postcode!

come on get a grip. drop catching is competative business, just like any other competative business sector on the planet.

that's like saying ford, vauxhall, volkswagen and ferrari are only allowed equal proportions of the market, and each manufacturer has to use the same advertising material, engines, wheels body styles etc.

in addition - with your suggestion what is stopping people registering more than one membership?

Nothing, but if having more than one membership is the only way to gain an illicit advantage then it would be easy for Nominet to know who to monitor.

Is it not all about how quick the response is once the DAC has said a domain is available?

if my script detects a domain available and it takes 20ms to get the email encrypted and delivered then it doesn't matter how many times i check for the domain for availability if the people I am competing with can get their email out in 10ms?

So even if I had 10 TAGS, I still couldn't get my email to nominet fast enough.

I've tried plenty to improve my script but cannot compete very well at all and I don't think having more TAGs would make any noticable difference except I could watch (and lose the race to) a larger number of domains, but my email response would still be too slow to actually get the domain.

So it's not just about multiple tags really is it?

If the othet party had access to 10 DAC accounts over a 24hr period they could query the DAC every 20ms, even if your script only took 1ms to send a PGP email to Nominet the other person would still beat you based on them queerying the DAC every 20ms.
