I was lucky enough to get the .com version of a name that I previously only had the .org. I've built a site at the .org and it does well as far as traffic and revenue. So my question is whether I should literally move my site to the .com and then forward the .org, or leave it at the .org and forward the .com. Or does it matter at all?

Thanks!

Alan

Just make sure you forward correctly with htaccess redirects so the search engines update.

My main business is based on a .co.uk and I had considered switching to the .com instead, but didn't want to take the risk, so just forwarded the .com. Will be interesting to see what others suggest, but if you are doing well for traffic, I'd not mess with it.

Read somewhere of an approx 15% inbound link juice lost via 301s, so there may be a slight hit on rankings even for a straight 301 swap on the new domain.

Leave on .org and forward the .com would be my instinct if you have established site on .org

Thanks everyone. I'm going to leave the .org for now and forward the .com. I'll post how it turns out.
