Nominet Tag transfers

Hi all,

Im now a tag holder and in process of getting membership etc sorted. QUick question for those experienced member please. If i want to move control of my uk domans from current registrar, do i just initiate a change registrar in nominet control panel to my new tag ? And does it cost the same 10 quid as a domain transfer or is that free?

Your existing registrar may offer this service for free, but unlikely. The best way is via the Domain Manager in Nominet, change the registrar/tag in bulk for £10+vat total.

You have to ask your registrar to release the domains to your tag, as Ian said they may do it for free or they may ask a fee

It's either that or do it yourself through your Nominet control panel but pay £10+vat

Any registrar that doesn't give you a free tag change should be avoided like the plague. Also registrars that take 6 days to do it for a client....yes that's you GoSpammy

If your registrar gives you the option to change the tag for free just go for it and they will instantly appear in your Nom control panel for your tag. Most I used in the past had the option to carry out a free tag change, but not all such as Godaddy IIRC.

Its godaddy im with. All the uk domains I have with them are in my nominet account and I seem to be able to initiate a registrar change in the nominet control panel, hence I asked if possible. If I start the process for registrar change, then I search for my tag it comes up.Thought it might magically just appear in my TAG account and disappear from go daddy.

In that case you will just have to perform it through the Nominet control panel as suggested and pay the £10 fee.

It's a shame because we could put together a much better and cheaper registrar yet people would still flock to the dregs of registrar society, 123reg, godaddy, etc

Before I was a TAG holder (Recently) and when moving my domains over to my TAG I found that all the registrars I had domains from offered free TAG changes.

Some don't and in the case of godaddy it just took them 6 days to perform a free tag change. Utter rubbish.

Their adverts actually make me laugh out loud, when I see there excessively smiley faces and funny little uniforms working within magical wonderland. You just know that shits gonna end badly....
