Could you spend some money please and knock up a cheap online transfer form that we can all use and not the all colourful, unnecessary pdf you currently use.

It's a joke! SPEND SOME MONEY!

Or here's an idea, do it in word. it's just a transfer, treaties between nations have less fancy paperwork.

Cheers
Lee

But it would be good if you could chuck up a word file tomorrow that we can all use, PDF - as the yanks say - SUCKS!

well said! it's so ott. all this sending copies of bills etc, its crazy.
just get registrars to use authcodes. it works for tlds, why not .uks?
yanks ay start investing in .uk's then, good ewsforall of us. atthemomet they hate the paperwork & cost nightmare. better now just £12! just think that could disappear altogether if we introduced authcodes?
save paper, time, money.. everything!
sedo may bring down their rates too! lol
sorry forgot, nominet need to justify thier existence!
(actually have to say very impressed whenever i speak to Nominet staff, as alwyas helpful & nice & knowledgable).. however.........lol

Or just let the tag holders change the registrant field like they do for .com's.

I stood for the PAB on that platform a couple of years ago and got nowhere....

'Yesterday' has produced www.j2g.co.uk Nominet Transfer Form pdf made easier. Nominet should do something like that if not just for accessibility reasons!

I expect Nominet are waiting for the registrar systems upgrade to be done:

http://www.nic.uk/registrars/systems/

Then we might see transfers being done via EPP codes?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transfer_secret

However I will try and mention this at my first PAB meeting on the 9th May as it goes under "domaining".

May 2007 Domaining (1 of 2)
July 2007 Lock State (1 of 2)

Alex Bligh also said to me on nom-steer:

Why are you assuming that a "policy on domaining" would be primarily aimed at restricting it? There are plenty of other policy considerations, including DRS considerations (you yourself have mentioned several DRS decisions you consider problematic), ensuring registrants who purchase domains in the secondary market actually get their domain name (and how the DRS applies subsequently to them), how domains that expire are released back into the pool, how the secondary market would interact with any Nominet provided waitlist service, etc.

We shall see .....

Please also email [email protected] with your suggestion(s) then it will go to all the PAB members.

Nope, you are confusing policy with implementation. The policy is that only we do registrant transfers.

This process will be automated in the next release of our online systems much later this year. The June release restructures our data and replaces some of our existing systems.
