I've just had this little site system developed to create 'web shops' within Wordpress, basically I'm after any ideas that might help improve it further.

I've stuck up a demo site on http://www.comparesunglasses.co.uk

With this system I can basically:
Upload Datafeeds
Set filters on the datafeeds to include/exclude keywords on Product Name/Description/Category
Search and Replace words on these feeds
Menu can be by default merchant categories or bespoke menu within wordpress using a keyword
Homepage categories can be defined and shows random products for that category
If product names match they will 'compare' in the table Here also shows a little thumbnail because for things like Polo Shirts the same thing can be listed loads but in different colours so makes it easy to distinguish the difference in products
If a voucher code is present for that merchant then it will appear on the product page Here
Category description can be added Here

So I'd like ideas on what it is lacking, and what else would be quite cool to add to it?

Maybe consider adding something to make the aff links look tidy.

Are you planning on releasing it or is it just for personal use?

Cheers guys, yeah the link cloaking is something i'm already looking into.

The html in posts issue is being looked at too, I had originally just tested 4 merchants and last night added another and it was full of the html, so getting that fixed too :)

I had it developed for personal use at first, I use Price Tapestry and also Storeburst but wanted something a bit like both and to easily use within wordpress, it has crossed my mind to make it available but I want to make sure it's all perfect first.

Clean site, easy to navigate, lots of features. Once tidied up the problems people have suggested, then its definite winner!

I think the system looks really good Darren, I think a lot of people would be interested if you decided to release it.

A couple of things I spotted/thought of:
- On a specific produc page it says "OTHER EXPERIENCES LIKE THIS".
- If a product has an applicable voucher code it isn't obvious before you click the link that the voucher code will go through to specific product.
- Will it be possible to edit title/description of product once the datafeed has been uploaded?
- Would it be possible to have a "voucher code alert" on the homepage? eg. if one of the shops had £10 off you could display this with a link to browse all products from that particular shop.
- I also think the aff links need to be cloaked in some way.

Cheers guys, Links are now masked and html in product issue has been sorted.

Ben, changed the 'experiences' bit.
"- If a product has an applicable voucher code it isn't obvious before you click the link that the voucher code will go through to specific product."
How would it be possible to make it obvious, does it need to be obvious?

"- Will it be possible to edit title/description of product once the datafeed has been uploaded?"
That isn't set up to do unfortunately, but I also have a version that creates all the products as wordpress posts so it would be possible in that, but that needs work on it to be able to update the feeds.

"- Would it be possible to have a "voucher code alert" on the homepage? eg. if one of the shops had £10 off you could display this with a link to browse all products from that particular shop."
that's a good idea, I can get that included, cheers!

Thanks Mark :)

I've asked about the ability to edit product names/descriptions, it os possible but aparently will be heavy on the server, I've decided not to add that part yet.

I am now working on the version that creates all products as wordpress posts, which is how Compare a Gift works, this will be able to update just the price of products, also if a new product is in the feed then it will add it as a new post, if it's no longer in the feed then it will mark it as 'out of stock' or something, I'm not really sure of the best way to deal with that as I don't want it to just delete the posts.

Looks very useful for affiliates.

Are you using the merchant images directly or copying them all to your server ?
