Cloak and dagger answer maybe, but when a domain elapses on the 'expiry date', is there such a thing as a list that can be accessed? Not a drop-list from 60 days, but from the point it reaches the expiry date without renewal?

Appreciate that 99.9% probably get renewed shortly after so is a waste of time, but just interested to know; or whether some have the script, but naturally won't share it ;)

If their was I can't see many sharing it, but suppose you could run something against a big list of watched or gathered domains maybe.

What is it you're wanting it for mainly, In general or a certain area?

Try expireddomains.net.

In the "members only" area you can view domains that have dropped over set time frames, including, from memory, 24 hours, seven days, one month, etc.

It covers loads of TLDs, including .uk - also shows a few metrics that can be useful (PR, number of back links, etc.)

Anyone and there are many, who have a database to create drop lists can do this.

And for the really dac well off you can scan regularly enough a few million domains to see which ones are suspended early and drop months and years before their expiry dates.

Ah. Still it's the same thing. You just create a drop list that is 90 days ahead. This will show all the domains at that time which haven't been renewed regardless of suspension status.

Ah right, doesn't sound like something I'll be able to get hold of then, given I'm using public catchers...not unless someone can offer me that service. Currently using domainviews 60 day drop-list which is great, but I'm talking about domains that haven't been renewed by their expiry date, which I guess is when their status changes.

I believe some have just created a huge database they can run scripts against to check, but I was more hoping for a system that just presents them at that crucial stage.

golddiggerguy, wanting them to take a different approach because trying to book slots on receipt of the 60 day drop-list isn't yielding results. I have a premium domain that I'm convinced will drop but that isn't for a long time yet and was hoping to find more like that. I did have the beginnings of my own database of names but found it isn't going to be an efficient system.

Just going on these "lists" does anyone have a certain area they look for or is it JUST any premium domain?

Are some of you into "pet insurance" or "car hire" and are always looking for them too. For example?

I'm new to all this, so just look for generic single words or those non-dictionary words that might have brand appeal. Using your service of course, but so far all the domains have been renewed last minute by the usual suspects, of which you have to spend as much time compiling a list of them!

Was just hoping for a list that presents results of domains that have just reached the expiry date without renewal. Surely it exists; maybe someone can offer it 'at a price'?

Appreciate that the pro's only use 7 day drop-lists because they catch using their own script and don't wish to waste time on domains that will likely be renewed before that point, but for someone like me, I need all the help I can get.

Be interesting to know who'd like to have a system that identifies domains that could potentially be dropping out side the 90 days.

Would this be something people would want as a paid for service?

Are you talking about suspended before renewal domains, liquidated companies etc? If so, would be a winner in my opinion, not sure how many potential users you'd have but if you've got the data it wouldn't take much work to pull out the relevant domains.

Bit of a hard one as we're developing something on the lines of what you mention Ian and so don't want to give it away too early but early signs for what we planned to achieve are very good!

In fact in 2 minds whether to even release it now. ;)

I recommend you keep it to yourself, plus of course let me have it too ;)

I get the impression that it isn't impossible though, so would imagine the heavy hitters in the domain world already do it! I've not had a domain arise yet which has just hit the expiry date to see how quickly they get snapped up by public catchers. It might be some time before I can see, unless someone can run a test ;)
