Caught my first domain through a public catcher yesterday. All paid for and the catcher sent me the Nominet link to transfer into my name and of course pay the expected £12 fee. I use Fasthosts for my sins for my domains, so had set that to accept a 'transfer in'. On the Nominet transfer it asked if I'd like to use my registered billing details and TAG as LIVEDOMAINS (used by Fasthosts). I've done all that, paid up and it now says this process can take 5 days because Nominet must confirm the transfer with Fasthosts. Is that right, thought it would be instant???

Not experienced a delay like that before.

Ive recently just just sold a domain that I caught. It was previously held at LIVEDOMAINS, and the new buyer wanted to hold it at LIVEDOMAINS. When they did the transfer it went back to the previous owners LIVEDOMIANS account. What a ball ache for the buyer to sort out! To be honest, in the end they transferred it to their 123-reg account

Could be Fasthosts don't automatically accept domains on to their Tag and Nominet give them five days to accept it.

Contact Fasthosts support if in doubt.

Spoke to Nominet and they said that Fasthosts have to accept it manually and there is nothing they can do. Spoke to Fasthosts (barely understand the person I was speaking to) and they said it takes 72 hours and they can't process it for me!!! Think I need to move registrars once this is done; these things shouldn't take so long!

Spoke to Fasthosts again and they've said that the TAG is still with the previous owner. I've made it clear that Nominet won't change the owners details until Fasthosts accept the transfer, but they claim that Nominet are to blame!!! I guess I'm just going to have to wait and see, but I've emailed Nominet anyway and will see if there is some way they can change the TAG to the other registrar I've signed up with today.

I might be wrong (please someone correct me if i am) but..

Get the transfer email resent

You will pay £12 again, but use the new registrar

The other transfer will time out and you will be refunded your original £12

Good call, and that is what I've done. Had the transfer email sent again and all done and dusted within seconds with daily.co.uk; a massive difference to fasthosts!!! Will now chase Nominet for the original refund (if they will) or see what happens after 5 days.
