Just wanted to warn you if you are thinking of using UKReg/Fasthosts or trying to move a number of domains over to their systems :

a. No bulk move facility (that I can find)

b. Slow interface - which quite often (unless you are up at 6am UK time) freezes up meaning moving more than 2 or 3 domains ends up being a major hassle

And to cap it all :

If you register a domain that has dropped or is free to reg - if at any time in the past it has been associated with a reseller account, you can't pull it into your account.

That's right - when a domain expires their systems don't remove all associations from that domain....

I have 3 current domains that I have now been going back and forth for 3 weeks trying to get them to resolve.

They have asked me to contact the reseller - f*** that....

Big thumbs down for UKReg/Fasthosts on this one.

The only reason I keep domains there is that they don't charge for moving and I know the renewals will work....

Oh and don't start me on their sh%te hosting that I have had before...

Just a rant.

Unfortunately that's quite common with most registrars. They don't seem to mointor domains that are on their TAG so don't know when they expire/move registrar etc.

It's very annoying!

24 days since I started a support tab, well done Fasthosts you are really outdoing yourselves opn this one. I now have 4 domains that I can't manage thanks to you lot - I can't even change the IPStag without asking Nominet to do which would be £10 each domain..... so I am stuck with an increasingly useless support.

The issue is that if ANYONE had registered the domain via a FASTHOSTS reseller account EVER, whether the domain expires, drops or is sold, they leave the association in place and seem to be unable to work out how to remove it.

Great going Fasthosts - now do you see why I would NEVER trust you with my hosting !!

I've had the same experience, I rang up support and they gave me contact details of the previous owner of the domain who still had the domain listed as on one of their hosting packages :?

Why can't they do what sedo do if you add a domain name to your list that somebody else has on their list, they verify the registered keeper!

Exactly - they tried that on me (ie. why don;t you ring round) and I told them to eff off - not my problem their systems don't work.

Is really not that difficult technically.

They just can't be arsed. Nice and arrogant then.... so nothing changed over the past few years.

Still stringing out... had to send proof of owenrship this time and of course wait the obligatory week to get anything seen too....

God aren't registrars supposed to make things simpler... I only use this bunch of cowboys for their auto-renewal and DNS settings.... how hard can this be!!!

That's horrendous, one thing having a problem with a system, another thing altogether to take almost a month to resolve it!!

I have a reseller account with Heart Internet, http://www.heartinternet.co.uk/reseller-hosting , I don't believe that any host is perfect but their response times are fast (minutes).

The problem is that most registrars (and/or support staff) don't seem to be that aware there is a higher level when it comes to .uk domains ie. Nominet. As far as the registrars are concerned the domain should be in the persons control panel that registered it initially and if the domain has since changed hands / dropped / caught it's the new owners responsibility to prove ownership.

Would it be worth complaining direct to nominet?
