Why is the chat room always empty?

In my almost 6 years on Acorn I have rarely seen the chat room in use, I have been in when there's been about 10 people in there but they come and go and talk jibber jabber.

Because it's not the 90's, does anyone use chat rooms at all? People like to share every single thing they do and every public conversation they have on twitter nowadays anyway.

My days of live chatting are far behind me.....first Compuserve, then IRC, etc, lol. Ahhhhh happy days, all those commands, etc. /away TTFN!

Majority of people I deal with use Skype / messenger. Don't think I have ever used the chat room on here. What is its purpose? Live auctions?
