Actually, I value it MUCH higher than that. 50,000 is just a starting point for discussion, and the value of the whole package is greatly discounted compared to the sum of each individual domain.

Why put a starting bid on at all - would it not be best to put a reserve instead to at least get some bids in - You would then at least see what the market thinks of your domain. Seems a daft way to use an auction site.

It reminds me of a friend who after getting his house valued by several estate agents placed it on the market well above any of the estimates. He didn't get one viewing. He lowered the price to the lowest valuation and sold above the top valuation within a few weeks.

I'd have to pay 100 pounds to put a reserve on (that's what a 30,000 pound reserve costs), which seemed a bit steep. This way on the other hand, it's totally transparent and cheap to boot - I just set my starting price at the minimum possible amount that I am willing to sell the domains at. Real, serious buyers don't have to mess around wondering how high they need to bid to get things started, because it's right there in black and white.

To be honest, I don't really care what "the market" thinks of my pricing unless it meets/beats my expectations since regardless I'm not going to sell any cheaper.

To be fair he could list them starting at 99p with a £29k reserve, but whats the point?

People who are going to pay the asking price will pay it, its not really an auction where a bidding frenzy will have someone thinking of chucking in an extra few grand.

A lot of ebay users know that NR stands for No Reserve, so by putting it in the title people can see the actual price without even clicking on the listing...

I think Edwins got the right idea, you put a domain up for auction at a price that nobody is ever going to pay but what you get instead is loads of advertising, probably the best that £2 can buy.
