Hey,

Our designer has just finished our latest website and thought i would harvest all opinions!

www.ru21.co.uk

Thanks in advance

Jon

Is the work done on behalf of the trademark holder? After all, the logo even incorporates the (R) showing that your designer knows that it's a Registered Trademark.

If not, there's probably no point looking more closely at the site as it will no doubt go away once the TM holder gets their DRS act together... Also, the content of the FAQ is word for word taken from the official (.com) site - is this with permission?

If it is legit, I'd be happy to give some more feedback...

Hi,

Yes as Chris has said everything is with permission. They just want to sell their product so are more than happy for us to be the UK arm.

Thanks for the comments Chris, good idea with the buy online- will get that done tomorrow.

What do you think now Edwin?

It certainly looks elegant, though I think it would be worth doing some testing into how the site appears at various resolutions. With more and more people browsing on smartphones, tablets, netbooks and other "lower resolution" devices, you may well find that all that shows up "above the fold" is the massive logo, whereas the meat-and-potatoes bit (the products lined up for sale below) is hidden from view.

It's worth looking at this discussion of "the fold" on Conversion Rate Experts...
http://www.conversion-rate-experts.com/scrolling-tips/

I would also have some additional detail about the claim "clinically proven to regulate alcohol metabolism" because the ASA may well have regulations about medical claims that would be triggered by such a statement (I don't know but it's worth checking - certainly each country has its own rules)

Similarly, if a medical claim is being made, then is it legal (under UK law) to give away samples of what might be classed as "a medicine"? Another question to look into, if you don't already have the answer...

Great point made by Edwin, which can be negated with the use of media queries and CSS. ;)

Not if you have a whacking great big logo graphic (unless you have LOTS of different sizes, but why bother when a smaller graphic can enhance usability across the board?)

Sometimes aesthetics can and should over-ride an aspect of usability, especially when you consider that the site design could easily be found in website design galleries, providing increased exposure to the likes of students of design, promoting sales of the product to a corner of the targeted market...

Spoken like a web designer :)

In the real world, businesses would be advised to take the extra sales over a slightly "prettier" site any day...

On every page: "5 Reasons You Should Use RU21"

..#5

"RU-21 is easy to use and convinient to carry around."

Not sure what Lomax means by that? but great site, very visually appealing and even though its mostly "below the fold" - Boom, its there alright!

One small picky bit, and it is small:),
The "what people say" scrolling message bit - It would be better if the message didn't overlap the double quote on the left - to me its slightly annoying that it does and my eye is drawn to that little messy bit each time it moves ;)

Great job Woffer, Did you do it or did you hire someone?

Ooops! yes spelling. My company did it - www.woffer.co.uk (shameless plug) :p

We hired a new designer as of about 3 months ago and the general quality and creativity has been much better on projects since then.

Thanks for all the comments, will sort out changes today!

I agree, purely because logos don't need to be that big. If it's eye-catching enough for you to see it and read it straight away, and it looks attractive, then it's done its job. Why make it bigger than it needs to be?

It's 692 by 295, so why stop there? Why not make it double that or triple that? Simple - it doesn't need to be. Just like it doesn't need to be as big as 692 x 295.

I like the overall look of the site. 'Worlds' needs an apostrophe though ;)
