Ive Just ordered these names. does anyone think they will be worth anything? or have i just pissed 3 grand into the wind?

glad somebody is talking about them lol

I have pre-ordered 10 .tel for general release at 15 pounds each.
They're worth a punt but not at 70 pounds each :|

I would drop the trademarks and some others such as buses, don't any potential there

I'm thinking some .me domains sold for xxxx but then most others are struggling at xx amounts.

Take a chance and see ? but i would buy at general release price and not landrush.

Who you regging with ?

DA : I have only ordered 10 for general release, they're top generics related to businesses and would be lucky to end up with just 1.

If i do it's only 15 pounds unlike 3k

I'll take a shot but not with things like findataxi.tel

Mine are more like sales.tel and office.tel so probably won't get them ?

There's no auction on these unlike .me so it's first come first served :)

PS* nice pussy

I might be mistaken but I thought the whole idea of .tel was to act like public directory (like a phonebook), and the domains won't have any IP resolving?

As far as I can see you are very restricted to what you'll be able to do with these domains. You are limited to entering your contact details and some links, I don't even think you can upload a logo.

I reckon you've wasted £3k.

Also, preordering TM domains such as pcworld is insanity.

grant

Yes it's for contact details only, don't quite see the point ? but if you can flog them for more than you pay ?
I reckon you've wasted £3k. Agreed !!! pre-order general release.

Also, preordering TM domains such as pcworld is insanity. Absolutely !!!

We''ll all find out from March onwards ???

I think domainers are spooked/unnerved by these new and mostly irrelevant TLDs to the point where they consider a punt. E.g., I only regged a handful of .mobis and a couple of .me domains, but I think the smart money stays with the staple diet of .co.uk, org.uk (strong) and .com. End of.

F.U.R.B Azooza !!! .......................................................only Kidding ;)

I aint bothered at taking a punt but then i aint spending 3k

Just a note to the polite wazmackenzie  you can cancel your pre-orders if you want

Just trying to help

iv also taken a punt on a few, i just cant make my mind up if it was a waste of money or not................come to think of it, i think i have wasted my money:rolleyes:
oh well, these things happen:D

A modest investment seems fine to me. If you can get good names but can afford to drop/forget them if it goes sour...

Fudge

i got excited, thought i was gonna make a mill.
yeah, ill cancel them, well theres a few im keeping. bingo broadway etc...im just going off .mobi. all my terms sold well as mobi, if they realise half i be happy.

any tips#? im new to domaining. and i want start to dev some up. aint got a clue. any links to books on how to do this id be grateful.

if i can cancel some but not all ill be made up. which are my top 20? or top 10? reply whats good to keep n good to lose. theres gotta be something in it.

the way i see this is, .tel is an alternative to telephone numbers, easy to remember and can be accessed from every device. so instead of a freephone number, companies give out plumbers.tel, they then choose phone fax email website callback from telnets icons.... so it will almost float above .com as an ambivolent contact layer.....you get me?

with so few devices running the same software browser plugins, a texty standard to pull everything together is genius. 1 click away from any point of contact.and if your site goes down, not a problem.

Also each profile can be packed senseless with keywords and urls. and you can build a mini directory out f it. and stash text in there too. so once this thing pads out and they launch their directory/engine (6months) and google notices this new sites size and growth it will spary it full of page rank, and all generic search term .tel domains, will have a lot of fire power, which they can turn back to their main site / cluster of sites.

this is just a thought. alternatively you buy say taxis.tel and split it into regions and charge to add taxi numbers / callbacks.

its an odd one. but if u ever tried to use web on a shit phone or a psp, this really will standardise it all. it WILL be used.

waza.

Would agree with the above, however would use the word speculation not investment :)

only one plumber can have plumbers.tel, and whoever has it will be viewed with less kudos as plumbers.com / .co.uk . Likewise will lose out when people type it in...

texty standard...like html :)

How is that different from any other extension?

hang on, thats .mobi ? oh no, that was balls as well :)

Not having a go... but seriously read around alot more and get a wider working knowledge of domains etc otherwise it will be cash down the drain based on believing the hype :(

Waza : I have gone for things to do with businesses like office.tel and services.tel, ones where high powered people and companies with money won't mind forking out for .tels

As with any domains you only get what an end user is willing to pay

Seriously .com is mint and .co.uk holds its own 8)

Everyone thought they would get rich with .tv - it didn't happen :(

An handful of .me sold for nice cash, the rest are in the domain graveyard having died at a young age.

Don't see much development in these domains ? best to just sell them on IMHO

When we get them, be sure to come back and we will list what we have and see what we get for them ?

GOODLUCK !!!

NB* Don't do the trademarks, they'll give you more hassle than it's worth, especially with them giants such as pcworld.

Whilst .tel may indeed be a turkey, the vitriol levelled at this many other new tld's doesn't tell the whole story. The same nay sayers who bemoan .tel and other new tld's were the same people rubbishing .eu despite many high five figure sterling sales of .eu's (that they obviously weren't aware of).

I never bothered with .me and then seen some sell for xxxx so i will be taking a punt, just got to figure out which ones will sell

tel com

ok so it aint dot come but if u get the dot tel you can link to any rubbish.com and still look decent. like i said it rises above .com and links to all forms of communication. this is the barrack obama of TLD's. unite brothers.
